Energy Efficiency
B & P Windows are committed to improving the energy efficiency of all our customer’s homes.
Our energy efficient windows take advantage of the solar energy produced from the sun to create heat in the home, while at the same time using technological advances in the production of double glazed units to keep heat in and insulate your home much better than before. Therefore saving you both energy and money.
U-Values
For years assessment of the energy efficiency of a window has been based on the U-value-a window with a lower U-value loses less energy through heat loss. However, U-values do not take into consideration solar gain or air leakage.
WER’s
The Window Energy Ratings were developed by the British Fenestration Ratings Council (BFRC). The main benefit for consumers is that it allows them to compare the energy efficiency of different products with ease. It uses the already recognisable format of the A to G scale found on white goods (fridges, washing machines etc).
The ratings assesses the energy performance of the whole window, including the frame material, the frame design, the glass type and all other components. Ultimately, this means that the ratings take into account the heat loss (U-value), the air leakage (L-factor) and the solar gain (G-value), to give a truer picture than the U-value alone
Important to know:
· In 2010, new Building Regulations will state that ALL replacement windows must be a minimum of a ‘C’ energy rating.
· Compared to an ‘E’ energy rated window (the current minimum standard), our ‘A’ rated windows could save you up to 94% on heat loss through your windows.
· The average household could save over £600 pounds (according to the GGF) a year on fuel bills with our ‘A’ rated windows.
· Condensation levels can be reduced by up to 74%.
· A reduction of up to 2db of noise - ideal for those who live near an airport or on a busy main road.
· Our energy efficient windows will add value to your home and will serve as a fantastic selling point when it comes to moving house.
Going Green
Energy efficient ‘A’ rated windows!
At B & P Windows we are committed to reducing the carbon footprint of our customers, as well as our own. The first step in this process was to fit ‘A’ rated windows as standard. This is to help us reduce the impact on the environment as much as possible, and at the same time, helping you reduce the cost of your heating bills.
100% Lead-free frames.
In 2015, it will become law for all involved in the double glazing industry to produce and install 100% lead-free profiles.
At B & P Windows however, we are already adhering to that commitment by installing 100% lead-free profiles now. Lead is extremely poisonous and a massive risk to the environment and people’s health.
Recycling
Our aim is to recycle 98% of all PVCu windows and door frames that we remove from old installations, known as post-consumer waste. No more landfill for PVCu as it can now be recycled into other products such as PVCu decking and fencing.
